So, you walk into a coffee shop in search of a good cup of coffee but you’re faced with dozens of choices including robusta and arabica.

If you’re confused about robusta vs. arabica, you’re not alone, we were too in the beginning.

All About Robusta

As of 2018 about 30% of the worlds coffee is robusta. This type of coffee plant grows at a lower altitude than arabica coffee plants so if you’re a world traveler you will find it growing in parts of the world like Africa and Indonesia.

Robusta coffee beans are less expensive than arabica coffee beans.

They have a stronger taste and offer about twice as much caffeine as arabica coffee beans. Yay!

Arabica Coffee

Folgers coffee, Maxwell House or about 70% of coffee that’s enjoyed in the world comes from arabica coffee beans.

This type of coffee bean is grown in higher altitude parts of the world like Latin America.

Arabica coffee beans are generally more expensive than robusta coffee beans but they also have about half as much caffeine as robusta too.

Ultimately the only thing that really matters when it comes to coffee is which one tastes better in your cup? The answer to this question all relates to your personal preference.

Robusta or “robusto” coffee will provide you with the “kick” that you may want to get your day started while an Arabica coffee will offer you a great coffee taste that won’t leave you feeling wired due to the caffeine.

Thankfully there are literally hundreds of types of coffees that you can choose from so when ordering coffee, it may be best to think about the time of day, your mood, and situation that you’re facing when ordering coffee.
